Have you noticed how TV coverage of sports has changed in recent years?

LIV golf is fast paced with lots of statistics and cameras switching rapidly between holes to maximise the action for the viewer. “Golf but louder” is their catch phrase. Similarly SailGP is also fast paced with changing close and wide camera angles, explanatory graphics and more statistics showing the changing lead in each heat.

On the other hand, have you seen any squash played on TV recently? No. This would be because squash faded from our consciousness after it’s peak popularity in the 80s and 90s.

For a business to be Future Fit, it needs to be strong in 3 areas:

Capability comes from having the right people in the right jobs, having financial control, and having the systems and equipment to deliver your product or service with excellence.

Inspiration comes from leadership who ensure there is a clear understanding of the company purpose, a direction in which the organisation is going, and planning processes to give clarity on how to get there.

Innovation comes into play when agility is needed to deliver despite a changing environment. It requires a growth mindset, an openness to feedback, and an embrace of risk management and problem solving.

In the 70’s cricket went through an evolution resulting in one day international and world series cricket. Agility and innovation are not new ideas.
