The Future Starts Now
Last summer we managed to watch a few Sail GP races. Sail GP is a global championship where national teams compete in high-speed, high-tech, foiling catamarans. It features short, thrilling races at iconic venues around the world such as Sydney Harbour and Auckland Harbour.
You might have caught it on TV if not in person. Watching a race on screen, it’s fast paced with close and wide camera angles, explanatory graphics and statistics showing the changing lead in each heat.
SailGP is harnessing the desire for sport as entertainment with society’s interest in sustainability by claiming they are “powered by nature”. Their ambition is to be the world’s most sustainable and purpose-driven global sports and entertainment platform. They claim they are racing for a better future and believe sport has the power to change the world.
These changes in sport and entertainment are more evidence of the constant change we are managing as individuals and organisations. Technology is driving change in our lifestyles and the society in which we live. Organisations that are not leading this change are following rapidly with supporting services and products.
Yet we don’t have to be constantly reactive to change. Taking a moment to be still and observe, can help us refocus and redirect our energy, choosing which trends we will embrace, and which changes we will support.
Have you taken a moment to plan your future?
