Opportunity Workshop
The terms “risk” or “risk workshop” tend to conjure up boredom, fear and avoidance from entrepreneurs, business managers and anyone not working in large enterprises, really. And that is a fair call – risk management can be quite tedious and detailed at times. Those people rarely have time to be bogged down in detail.
But risk management is also essential to success, so how can we make it relatable and relevant?
Always looking to put the fun back into work, this year instead of running risk workshops, I am offering Opportunity Workshops. This requires us to do our research before we put people in a room; then when we are together, we only discuss the big issues – the ones that mean the difference between stagnation and growth, between failure and success.
There are several steps to get us to that point, but the Opportunity Workshop can be a creative blue sky look at an organization and the way it delivers on its strategic aims. It should also result in specific actions to address the biggest issues previously identified.
If you’ve identified a bunch of potential risks, but no-one has really focused on how to address them, then an Opportunity Workshop might be just what you need!
