Feel the Waterfall
Are you the one who edges in slowly—or do you dive right in?
Last weekend, I found myself standing at the edge of a waterfall-fed waterhole. The kind of place that dares you to feel alive. The water was icy. The kind of cold that stings your feet before it refreshes your mind. I swam briefly. I climbed out. And then—I went back in. Not because it was comfortable, but because it was worth it.
The group I was hiking with all jumped in then. We squealed, laughed and were refreshed and reenergised for the climb back out of the valley. Sometimes, reward hides behind a little resistance.
That same principle applies to how we lead. Strategy isn’t about avoiding risk. It’s about understanding it and choosing when to leap and when to pause. Putting risk into strategy means being bold with clear intent, not reckless. It’s how we create opportunity instead of waiting for perfect conditions.
This season—Q4 of 2025—is much the same. The year’s not over yet, but we’re standing at a threshold. For some, it’s time to reflect. For others following a financial year, the run is still ahead. Either way, the question is the same:
Will you wade in cautiously? Or will you choose to re-enter with intent?
